A modern digital camera, whether it’s a compact ‘point and shoot’ style or a full-on digital DSLR, will take astoundingly good images, even in the dreaded 'green box' auto mode. Actually, it still amazes me when I see the quality of photographs that even a cheap $200 pocket compact can achieve.
