Who Needs a PLB?

If you are tramping or hunting in New Zealand’s backcountry they are a good idea when considered in conjunction with good planning. If you are going off-track in the backcountry however, they are considered by many to be a necessity. This is especially so for hunting or solo tramping. If price is an issue, you can hire them from most hunting or tramping clubs as well as many equipment retailers. In most cases they are a fraction of the price of a new rifle or scope. Truth be told, your family would much rather you had a PLB!
