MANAGING DEER NUMBERS INTO THE FUTURE
During the past year, working with hunting sector interests and the Department of Conservation to modify the tahr culling program and working with Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP) on the effects of 1080 poison on tahr have taken significant amounts of Game Animal Council time.
Whilst tahr are very important to all hunting sector stakeholders, and tahr management will continue to occupy a significant amount of GAC time, we should not forget that they are not the species most widely hunted in New Zealand.
