Hind and hound
All stalking outfitters, if they are like us, will be busy from November until the end of February, as we start on the does. And while we can shoot roe until the end of March and hinds to mid-February, I think we all like to be on top of the cull before we get too far into the New Year. I accept that this is not always possible due to other factors, and on some blocks I am faced with some challenging situations. Not least the crop protection role on restock and new plant, where we have to shoot right up to the end of the season as damage prevention comes to the fore.
I find that sometimes it is difficult to juggle accompanied stalking with clients and getting out and shooting the females where this is needed. To illustrate my point, if we look at the Kinnaird estate,
