Gary Moorcroft
When you ponder the 2000 AFL premiership team, it’s natural to think of James Hird or Matthew Lloyd. However, Gary Moorcroft was a key piece in Kevin Sheedy’s puzzle. The goal sneak did it all in his AFL career: he won a premiership and played alongside some of the biggest names in footy. Moorcroft also took what was dubbed the Mark of the Century in 2001; the commentators saying the still photo of his leap on Brad Johnson would be displayed in pubs all across Australia. The 43-year-old managed just under 100 AFL games, but enjoyed a successful career.

When you think back to your childhood, what are your fondest footy memories; which team did you support?
I supported Collingwood. Dad was born and bred in Collingwood, so it was black and white through and through. Junior footy was pretty hard and tough back when I was playing; it was a different brand compared to what’s played these days.
