Growth is a fundamental attribute of the wildlife ranching industry. Defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as ‘the process of increasing in size’, ‘growth’ is a word typically imbued with much more meaning than that simple description implies. Differing views on growth are a source of much political controversy in today’s world. It is uncontroversial that wild animals grow naturally in both size and number, thereby providing a basis for humans to harvest them, which in turn underpins wildlife ranching. However, more difficult questions arise concerning the nature of growth in the industry.
