The recent natural disaster in Mozambique has once again made me realise how powerless man is against the power of nature, especially if you’re in one of the poorest countries in Africa. I admire the courage and heroism of 4x4 vehicle owners and organisations who spontaneously offered their selfless help in this time.
It reminds me of when when I farmed there, a year or so ago. My base was a classic old Portuguese farmstead, beautifully restored, on top of a ridge next to the Limpopo flood plain.
