EXPERT CLINIC

OIL PUMP ISSUES

Q I have an oil pump issue with a 1600 Kent with a 7400 rpm rev limit fitted to my Mk1 Fiesta race car. I installed a high pressure, high volume pump which runs fine with revs below 7200 rpm. Once I raise the limit to 7400 in racing conditions, I have low oil pressure in very long 180 degrees corner. Can you confirm that a high volume pump may be causing an empty sump issue at high revs?
