Fuel, when mixed with air, then compressed and ignited, is what gives an engine its energy. So you can see it’s a fairly crucial ingredient, and when you start looking at exotic stuff like E85 ethanol, methanol, and nitromethane, it’s clear there are many more types of fuel than just the regular petrol and diesel varieties you see at your local petrol station.
