The formation of the Cabinet was a positive development as well as a useful and indispensable one regardless of how the media portrays the government as merely fulfilling the needs of Hezbollah. It is a government to serve the shared interests of political factions, a government to fend off further economic erosion and economic perils against the downgrade of Lebanon’s credit rating, a government that reassures Western countries and puts foreign assistance back in the cards… Each of these portrayals is a fraction of the bitter truth and of the very difficult political reality.
