On superficial proposals

n economic paper has been prepared by 21 researchers. They include economists and non-economists as well as business-people. The team has put forward a plan and issued several recommendations. These proposals didn’t include any new recommendation besides a proposal for a haircut on part of the depositors’ funds – as if they have the right to dispose of the life-time achievements of many citizens. Many of those who rallied around this paper are esteemed friends and acquaintances. Regretfully, I searched in vain for a new proposal despite the lengthy note they have published. I was looking for a proposal that is different from those that I had already examined in the extent of their implementation in other countries – such as the IMF program, the World Bank, and the other banks that have laid the foundation stone of economic development in our region.
