TECHNIQUE OF THE MONTH

Greetings my fellow bassists! Once again, we meet to work on a transcription of some of my favorite parts from the songs that I’ve written and recorded. This month, let’s continue with part two of our look at the song ‘Outbound’ from my album of the same name, released by Steve Vai’s Favored Nations label back in 2000.

Last month, we looked at the tapping intro for this track, so now let’s move on to the main bass part, which combines slapping, popping, tapping, hammer-ons and pull-offs… all of the essential Stu Hamm techniques!
