ON October 25, 1972, Richard Phillips, 27, was sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison with no possibility of parole. Phillips and Richard Palombo had been convicted of the first-degree murder of Gregory Harris.
Harris had been abducted from his car and shot dead 16 months earlier in Detroit.
