Chef Bertus Basson was recently named S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna Chef of the Year at the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Eat Out Awards.
His Stellenbosch restaurants are Top 20, this year taking 12th place (tel: 021 880 2721). Eike, his new fine-dining restaurant, shot in at seventh place after just one year of operation (tel: 021 007 4231). He also has his own burger brand at the family-friendly Die Vrije Burger restaurant (tel: 076 664 1154) and then there’s his casual small-plates wine bar, Spek & Bone (tel: 082 569 8958). We caught up with this incredible chef.
