It’s a busy morning in the shopping district of Newmarket, Auckland, and the Scarpa store is in a state of uncustomary chaos. Tissue paper is spilling out of shoe boxes scattered about the floor, and bosses Pip Larner and Liz Savage (both née Upton) are whizzing about. With the exit to the storeroom designed to look more like a runway entrance than a back door, the sisters and staff look as if they could be part of an experimental catwalk show, dashing in and out with various heels in their hands.
Brought together by a love of good shoes, the sisters and their Scarpa team are a united front when it’s time to pose for s camera, sharing a laugh or two between takes. In a world where the convenience of online shopping can seem more desirable
