Have yourself a mindful Christmas

Give back together

While most children look forward to a rest during the school holidays, a group of Kiwi youngsters is lending a helping hand. NZ Red Cross’s Young Humanitarians programme aims to teach nine to 13-year-olds about the importance of helping their community. The youngsters learn about disaster welfare, meet former refugees now living in New Zealand and learn first aid, as well as helping to distribute much-needed meals to the elderly.

Invercargill siblings Alex, Briana and Ryan Sansom are shining examples of how people of all ages can spread the spirit of Christmas. Volunteering for Young Humanitarians during the recent school holidays, one of their favourite jobs was Meals On Wheels.
