For the past 15 years or so I’ve known Tom from surfing together around Hossegor, swapping surfboards in the water, checking out each other’s equipment and chasing the same uncrowded spots when the surf is really pumping.
I’ve always enjoyed riding wider, flatter, thicker boards and the places they can put you on a wave, so it was a natural progression for me to gravitate towards these designs as a shaper. At the same time, Tom had been experimenting with skimboards and their application for surfing, fuelled by his awareness that we don’t need all that extra length on our boards when we are actually on the wave, riding the open face.
