Infra Realism by Kate Ballis
Melbourne-based artist Kate Ballis’ Infra Realism shows the Mars-like deserts, mid-century houses, retro pools and luxury vintage cars of Palm Springs in a whole new light. Using a digital camera converted to capture infrared light, Ballis has sought to re-enchant the city, which has long been her muse, by extending the edge of the visible spectrum. Comprising more than 100 colour images photographed over the course of several trips, Infra Realism also includes photographs of other unique desert-scapes, such as Joshua Tree, Sedona and the Atacama Desert.
