“Propellers are extraordinary objects, they’re mysterious and evade from the precision of mathematic calculus” at least according to Claudio Belotti joint owner and co- founder of Italian Propellers with his brother Marco whom we met in the course of the latest International Boat Show in Genoa. The purpose of our meeting? To talk about what they do best, in other words producing propellers and to understand more about them while gleaning a useful tip or two!

What input do you require initially to define a propeller’s characteristics?

In order to choose a given model with the required features the first information we require has to do with the engine: horse power, the rpm (revolutions per minute) and the reduction ratio concerning drives and their shafts where applicable.
