FASHIONABLY LATE

Jan, please tell us about yourself and how you wound up working with Core.

Everything started when I was 13, building surfboards with my dad in the garage. We built directionals first, then kiteboards and surfboards. We lived in the middle of Germany and between weekends on the water we had time to build stuff. I finally moved to the coast when studying for my master’s degree in mechanical engineering. My studies focused on material science and composites and I started building some surfboards for friends in my spare time, but also for other people who were interested in the different constructions and moulding techniques I was using. Somehow I was recommended to Core and had my first interview soon after. I began working here in September 2019, but still feel like I’m really new to the industry. I pretty much fill the gap of classic nerd, trying to validate ideas before they are transferred
