CHICAGO - The Blackhawks entered their game against the Oilers on Thursday night at the United Center with a fighting chance at a Western Conference wild-card spot, though they were fortunate even to be in range.
The Hawks haven't fared well in close games, posting a .385 winning percentage in one-goal contests, 28th in the NHL, entering Thursday. Their eight one-goal losses in regulation are tied for sixth-most. Their 10 one-goal wins rank 28th, just head of the Maple Leafs, Senators and Red Wings.
