A blast around the barracks Puckapunyal Circuit Victoria

PUCKAPUNYAL CIRCUIT, SEYMOUR, VICTORIA

During WW1, this area was used for military training, and formally established as Puckapunyal Camp in 1939. The original site was expanded to 5,700 hectares during WW2, when it provided a training area for Australian troops as well as the US Army’s 41st Infantry Division. The war years and the immediate post-war period saw the camp developed for soldiers and their families, with a network of roads, barracks, domestic homes and service buildings. Today, around 280 families of the Australian Defence Force community call ‘Pucka’ home, and it now houses the Tank Museum, a popular attraction for visitors.
