Rabbit Season Kicks Off

AT THIS time of the year (late July, early August) I have to make some drastic changes to my hunting calendar. Being in the midst of our sambar deer hunting season, a phone call from up North, a little way from us, brought a bit of good news that we were half expecting to come at any time around now. The rabbits were on the move and, better still, my farmer friend had also bought the property next door and we knew that that property held a lot of rabbits as I had hunted it for years when the previous owner had it.

We were certainly keen to get in there once again for the property had been locked up since the previous owner had died and the rabbits, foxes and cats had been left to their own to breed up. We decided on hunting sambar one week, a week off, then a week after the rabbits. The week in the middle could be allocated for
