Pig-Perfect – The 7mm-08

IN THE November 2019 edition of Sporting Shooter magazine I penned an article titled “The Perfect Hunting Rifle” which detailed the long arduous process of getting a rifle custom built. The rifle in question was chambered in 7mm/08 Remington which just so happens to be one of my favourite cartridges for hunting mid-sized game like pigs and goats, and this particular rifle fitted my requirements right down to the finest detail.

Of course, as everyone knows, the biggest test for any rifle is how it performs in terms of accuracy and on game. And in my case, the latter wasn't going to happen any time soon and it would be several months before I had the opportunity to put my new rifle to the test for a proper evaluation. So in the interim, I planned on doing quite a bit of load development and a few range sessions at SSAA Belmont to evaluate the load combinations I hoped might perform well on game.
