Shortly after Yaffa acquired Sporting Shooter from Rodger Hungerford in 1969, Nick joined the team as gun editor. He held this position for nearly 50 years and filed his last piece (before deadline, as was his disciplined approach) only a month before his passing.
met Nick at a gun expo in the early ’80s when I was a bright-eyed marketing assistant but let’s go back in time. I can only imagine my father’s excitement when Nick joined the magazine in 1975. David Yaffa, who passed away in reported upon his death, “For those of us on the editorial side, it was gratifying that the content of the magazine came first … consequently he backed his good editors and let them get on with the job without interference.”
