MID-SIZE MARVEL
The locked front wheel pulled left and tucked under the F 850 GS without warning. One moment I’m looking for a way around the slippery puddle, the next I’ve had the handlebars wrenched from my grip and I’m being thrown forwards and left, my momentum taking me briefly up and my brain understanding I’ve crashed before I’ve landed. This, as they say, is not my first rodeo.
I’ve come down into the Victorian dirt not too worried — I’m wearing good gear — but then the bike has landed on my foot and there’s a snap of pain as my fibula cracks. I didn’t know that at the time, but I knew I wasn’t bouncing up and back on the bike.
