Growing people, PLANTS AND PROFIT
It’s mid February, and the school year has just begun. Jade and I are resuming our Thursday morning gardening sessions in Grey Lynn at the Auckland Women’s Centre. For me, it’s a chance to reach out to a community a bit further from home than the other community gardens I work at, and demonstrate what an easy-care workplace edible garden looks like, with home-scale composting. I discovered the Auckland Women’s Centre in 2016 through a sixweek free course they were offering, and the Centre soon became a sanctuary for me. I’m now giving back in the form of gardening as one of the many volunteers connected with various functions of the organisation. (awc.org.nz)
