Hot tips for summer gardening

As summer goes on, hopefully you’ll be harvesting increasing quantities of your spring-sown veges: beans, peas, zucchinis, cucumbers, lettuces, basil, tomatoes and so on. Berries, currants and stone fruit are coming on.

It’s a busy time in the garden, just when you may be going away on holiday, or hosting friends and relatives. Enlist young family members to harvest berries and peas – make it a game or competition. Befriend neighbouring gardeners so you can keep an eye on each other’s gardens and water or harvest if needed.
