MAZDA RX-7 20B (FD3S)

Is anyone sick of seeing Andy Duffin and his RX-7 appearing on these pages, on the Internet, and at damn near any event that’s able to accommodate a screaming 20B peripheral-port (PP) RX-7 going like a bat out of hell? We didn’t think so. It appears that Andy isn’t sick of driving it, either, with a debut in the Eneos North Island Endurance Serices (NIES) ticking off yet another box in the list of disciplines that the multi-talented RX-7 is capable of.

This thing is the epitome of the home-brewed hot rod. Its circuit career began with Andy’s re-entry to the S2000 grid, first with an injected 13B, then a ‘downgrade’ to a 216kW 12A to make the most of weight advantages offered by running the smaller capacity. Winning the S2000 championship was fun — Andy says that he doesn’t enter races just to make up numbers — and eventually the car came to be powered by the Green Brothers
