One night stands
Although this is my first trip abroad in a Campervan, it certainly isn’t my first rodeo driving over the water. I’m a long distance HGV driver and my day job involves moving classic cars all over the world for races, rallies and tours, so really this is a bit of a busman’s holiday for me, but with a twist.
Where normally I am on a tight schedule, this time we had little or no agenda, and planned to do lots of exploring and spend some quality r and r time in the Van.
The rough plan was to spend 10 days taking in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands. Yeah, this is me not on a schedule!
Since our last road trip to the peaks, which was covered in VWt Issue 82, I’ve been busy with the mods. I’m on my third set of alloys, the Van sits a bit lower and I’ve made more Camper-orientated upgrades to the electrics and interior. We were ready to go.
Leaving Suffolk, we headed for Dover, crossed the Channel and made our first stop over just on the outskirts of Calais. Calais
