    For two years in a row, the Komskom Hawaiian has not only been selected for the Pipe Masters Trials, but has blazed a trail through names with bigger reputations and better sponsorship deals: Jack Robinson, Billy Kemper, Josh and Seth Moniz, Torrey Meister, Koa Rothman and Nathan Florence straight into the WCT Pipe Masters. This year he surfed slap bang into World Champ contender Filipe Toledo in Round 2. Losing by less than a ball hair.

    Just page over and look at that wave for a second. Then try and reconcile that with the idea of Benji Brand, who has made waves like that his business, in Brazil chasing beach break close-outs trying to find some early momentum for a QS campaign. Because that’s where I manage to lock him down for this interview.
