ROTORUA BASECAMP ATTRACTS MORE REMOTE WORKERS

EMBRACING REGIONAL lifestyle benefits while working remotely for national companies is a rising trend and Rotorua’s Digital Basecamp is at the forefront of that trend.

Digital Basecamp business development manager David Remmerswaal says the co-working space was originally launched in 2017 with the local workforce in mind, but the growth in remote workers and ‘digital nomads’ has changed the way the business works.

“We now have 50 percent of our members within Digital Basecamp living in Rotorua for the lifestyle, but working for national or international companies in professional roles,” he says.

“Having a remote workforce makes sense for corporates – their real estate or lease costs are cheaper, the workforce is diverse
