Kearsney Manor near KwaDukuza has a story that dates back to the 1860s when its first proprietor, Sir James Liege Hulett, established the estate as a tea farm. The birthplace of Sir James’s Huletts Sugar empire, today it is known as a Heritage Site.
At this charming old-English mansion, Sir James raised his family and cultivated everything from maize and sweet potatoes to chillies and coffee. Many of his sons became craftsmen and helped their father build its first expansion. The manor boasts wide windows allowing in plenty of light, wooden floors and parallel pillars, and is surrounded by a gorgeous garden and towering trees.
