OUTPUT SLIDES AS BIG THREE TALK UP QUALITY

WHAT’S the state of European production as the reports of the 2019 vintage (mostly September/October in the northern hemisphere) roll in? Worldwide wine production for 2019 is estimated by the OIV (the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, a scientific and technical inter-governmental body working with vine-based products, including wine, table grapes, raisins, vinegar) at about 263 million hectolitres (mhl). This is just 2 per cent lower than the 10-year global average, so 2019 production is effectively back in line with long-term global output after 2018 (the biggest vintage since 2004) and 2017 (the smallest vintage since at least 1995).
