what not to overlook before you book
is there enough space?
This may seem incredibly obvious, but who hasn’t been to a wedding where guests could have used just a little bit more elbow room? It’s worth noting that just because the space officially holds 150 people, that doesn’t mean it will have enough room for 150 people to comfortably eat, drink and dance, especially once the buffet, bars and other equipment is set up. The best venues have separate areas for you to have your ceremony (if you’re having it at the same place as your reception), cocktail hour, dinner, dancing and possibly a low-key area to lounge. The best way to accurately assess the size of a site? Ask to take a peek at the space when another wedding (with an equivalent guest list size and style of party— sit-down, buffet and so on) is all set up.
