Channel D Lino C 2.0

Editor: My sincerest appreciation goes to Michael Fremer for the extensive time he devoted to listening to and evaluating Channel D’s new Lino C 2.0 current-mode phono preamplifier. I’d like to offer a few additional thoughts regarding things mentioned in his review.

The Lino C’s battery-charging supply is automatically disconnected internally when an input signal is present. The control relay mentioned in the review is strictly optional and takes the additional, somewhat extreme step of automatically disconnecting the charging supply from the AC utility line itself. This isn’t required for normal operation.

The “super-low” internal impedance of the Ortofon A95 MC cartridge used in the review is, at 7 ohms, near the middle of the range typical of all modern lowoutput MC cartridges. This includes the entire Ortofon MC cartridge line, even the
