MARCH 7 10 Barrel Hella Big Air No matter how much time you’ve spent at the terrain park, the dizzying jumps at this big-air contest will transfix you. Brave skiers and boarders can sign up to huck themselves off 50-foot-plus jumps and execute jaw-dropping tricks. Competitors who earn the favor of the judges will win up to $3,000 per jump. If you’re not fearless enough to compete, watch from the sidelines while sipping on 10 Barrel Brew Pub beers and listening to reggae group the Movement. MARCH 21 Fatty Patty 50k Bike Race If chilly temps and snow-dusted trails sound like ideal biking conditions, send it at this long-distance cycling competition. Individuals and teams of two will trek through Leadville’s Historic East Side Mining District and catch views of old mining sites at 10,000 feet of elevation. After you complete the jaunt, join the after-party at the Cycles of Life bike shop, where you can sip Oskar Blues beer and enter to win raffle prizes such as wood paintings made by local artist Brinkley Messick and bike tires from 45Nrth.
