ll you tie-dye hippies and children of the ’60s, rejoice: Volkswagen is bringing back the legendary microbus. And this time, it’s going to be an eco-friendly, all-electric version. Reaction to the VW I.D. Buzz concept van at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show was so passionately positive that Volkswagen execs have finally given the go-ahead to a production model that’ll land at dealerships in 2022. Just like VW’s upcoming Buggy, the I.D. Buzz will have its batteries mounted under the floor powering a single electric motor driving the rear wheels, with the option of another electric motor up front to make it all-wheel drive. Depending on battery size, VW is talking about a zero-emission range of between 200 and 340 miles. And as with the original, it’ll be an ideal beach hauler, with space inside for up to eight and room on the roof to carry as many surfboards as you need. Roll on 2022,
