I’ve always been slightly in awe of headkeepers and syndicate captains who can not only market their shooting, juggle diaries and produce the sporting goods, but also simultaneously bring together a team of relative strangers and make the whole thing not only gel, but grow. Kevin Rolls is a master at it.
“It’s easy,” he told me, holding his face in his hands in mock horror; “it’s easy when you’re dealing with decent people and that’s what I’m lucky to have. I mean that. That’s not hard work. Dealing with journalists and sporting agents, that’s the toughest bit,” he said, crushing me with a hug.
