Pair of Gordon Flintlock Blunderbusses

A pair of brand-new flintlock blunderbusses of the best quality sold on 9 June 1893, by Edinburgh-based John Dickson & Son? No, that was not a typo – these brand-new flintlock blunderbusses were completed in 1893.

The last flintlock blunderbuss was probably made in about 1825 and then the percussion system took over. With the advent of the Metropolitan Police in 1829, the country became a safer place and ordinary citizens did not feel the need to arm themselves for self-protection.
