Not the field trials that I recognise

I was horrified to read Ian Morton’s letter (January issue) regarding his observation of a field trial. I find it incredulous that wounded, running game would be left unpicked or ignored by any judge or judges.

At the beginning of each drive, it is customary for judges to warn the first competitor in line that if a runner should come down during the drive, the first dog will be sent, if it is
