It’s great for entertaining – something we do a lot – because everything is happening in the one room and it becomes nice and informal. You can be cooking or making drinks, without missing out on the conversation. One thing I learned was the importance of painting the walls before the kitchen units go in. We found it really tricky to do it after without making a mess.’
