Practical Motorhome

Ask Jack

CAN WE WATCH OUR HOME TV IN THE ’VAN?

Having just bought our first motorhome, we have been looking at televisions for it.

The ’van-specific TVs are pretty expensive and I was wondering, would there be any problems with using a household TV?

I have a spare TV at home, a 24” with a power rating of 45W. My plan would be to run it off the mains socket when we have hook-up, and on the rare occasions we don’t, to use a 12V inverter.

Jack replies A warm welcome to motorcaravanning! Not only are there no serious problems, it’s a great plan, as the TV is ‘free’. Using something already in your possession will help you to prioritise exactly what you want regarding size, spec and features if you do later buy one to mount in the ’van.
