Why?

Belgium makes a beautiful backdrop for some festive shopping and fascinating history

Just because the nights have drawn in and Jack Frost is now nipping at your extremities, there is no reason why your motorhome should be laid up until the spring. There are some really delightful winter campsites, in this country and abroad, which make braving the elements well worth the effort.

Our destination was Bruges, a fairy tale town full of joy and sparkle, tinsel and lights, and Christmas cheer all in one pretty parcel, just waiting to be unwrapped and savoured. Oh, and chocolate – there is a lot of chocolate!

We live in North Devon, so the 270-mile trek to Dover is not an easy one. It requires running the gauntlet of the M25, which is not only very busy, but is also accompanied by a constant klunk-klunk-klunk as
