Own a cross-lease property? Thinking about purchasing or selling one? Beware. Cross-lease titles have been likened to a “ticking time bomb”. There are specific provisions set out in a cross-lease document that many people are not aware of, which restrict what you can legally do to your house. In many cases, making changes to your property without neighbours’ written consent, is in breach of the conditions of the cross-lease.
