King Kong (Three, 8.00pm). Sir Peter Jackson wanted to remake this 1933 classic even before The Lord of the Rings. We’re glad he didn’t. The CGI skills that were refined over the course of the trilogy have almost made the beast look beautiful. Credit to Andy Serkis, donning the motion capture machine once again to lend pathos to the giant, misunderstood gorilla. Naomi Watts and Adrien Brody back up the technical skill with emotional performances of their own as vaudeville actress Ann Darrow and screenwriter Jack Driscoll. (2005)

Swimming with Men (Movies. Having charmed audiences with his Welsh patter on British comedy panel shows and dined on a smorgasbord of imitations with Steve Coogan in , comedian Rob Brydon whips on his speedos to lead an all-male synchronised swimming story that never quite finds it rhythm, in spite of a strong ensemble cast. It was apparently inspired by a documentary, , about a Swedish team brought together by mid-life crises. Go for the sports car next time. (2018)
