I walked through the fog alongside the railroad tracks outside Chiloquin, Oregon, my camera bag weighing heavily on my shoulder. No trains came rumbling by. It was just me and my camera. My stupid, stupid camera. A high-definition, top-of-the-line Canon XHA1 HDV camcorder and all its gear that had set me back eight thousand dollars. A small fortune I definitely didn’t have. Not now anyway. I’d quit my stable job at a radio station. All for the love of trains.
