Early in the new year my family swapped the smoke-filled air of our Blue Mountains home for the smoke-filled air of the Hunter Valley to spend a few days with several friends and their families. The kids loved the constant presence of kangaroos while the adults tried to smile, knowing the animals’ presence was most likely caused by their habitat being devastated by nearby bushfires.
