    Every town has a secret little coffee shop, or an activity that only the residents know about. In Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown), Provost Café in the old prison is one such coffee shop, and the Oldenburgia Day Trail is one such activity.

    The entire trail is 17 km, but there are two shorter loops. The Oldenburgia Hiking Club spruced up the trail network about four years ago and every route is clearly marked.

    The trailhead is on a dirt road called Mountain Drive.
