GAZING AT THE STARS

WE were trolling through a sandy gutter chasing flathead. The lures, small deep diving Lively Lures Micro Mullets, were hitting the bottom and we had caught a few nice fish that morning. My lure was hit hard, bending the rod over sharply, followed by a dead stop snag. The hit seemed too harsh for a snag, and when I applied pressure the “snag” broke from its cover to reveal a quite solid heavy fish.

I’ve experienced this sort of bite several times before, and I soon had a big stargazer at the boat.
